Heterogeneous Mixture: Mixing Prints

A heterogeneous mixture is any mixture that is not uniform or of the same parts. As this relates to fashion, it would be a mixture of prints. When I was growing up, I was taught to never mix prints. As I have evolved as a woman and I have worked in retail, I began to appreciate fashion more and defy the fashion norms. I’ve found that fashion is all about what you make it! However, I do feel that the styles of clothing should complement one another regardless of prints.

For instance, I love a pencil skirt with a fitted peplum top. This particular morning I wanted to wear my black and white striped pencil skirt. I had no clue what shirt to put with it; I just knew that I had to wear black and white. I searched through several tops and settled on my favorite black shirt with white polka dots. I put it next to my skirt and instantly fell in love. I’ve found that the bigger the print, the better it looks together. Smaller prints can work as well, but the bigger they are, the more I love it. I love a fun mixture and apparently everyone else does too! I received many compliments and this look made me more excited to branch out and try more defying looks!

Don’t be afraid to try different things with your fashion! It does not matter what the rules are or what people think. If it makes you happy, wear it!! Use the links at the top of the page to share your look and connect with me! 😁

Until next time,
