It is important to have a balanced outfit. Some days I wake up knowing a specific piece of clothing that I want to build an outfit around; other days I wake up knowing exactly what I want to wear from head to toe. There are other days when I have no idea what I want to wear or where to begin. So, for the days when I know what piece I want to wear, I build around that specific piece. For instance, with the outfit pictured below, I knew that I wanted to wear this red sweater so I chose this black and white shirt because I knew that black and white would make the red sweater pop. I chose jeggings (because who doesn’t love a pair of comfy jeggings, right?)! Then I was torn between black or red Chucks and I chose black because I wanted the sweater to be the focal point.

For days when I have no clue what to wear I consider a few things: (1) where am I going, (2) the weather, (3) what do I feel like wearing today? Do I want to go for comfy, warm, dressy, dressy casual, flashy, simple, etc. Once I decide how I feel, I grab pieces of clothing that match my mood and I take it from there. I love graphic tees; they’re typically my “go to” item. I love having at least one statement piece. This, for me, is typically jewelry or shoes. We’ll get to the details of statement pieces at a later date. The main thing to remember in balancing the outfit is to have a piece and build around it. It could be shoes, a sweater, pants, or whatever it needs to be to make an outfit that fits your style. The most important thing is to remember is that as long as it makes you feel good, wear it!!!!
