Spectrum: Continuity of Clothing

A spectrum is defined as a continuing range, such as color or frequency. In most cases when people hear spectrum they think of a wide or diverse range. However, a spectrum for clothing can consist of the same style of clothing. Lately for me that style of clothing has been wide leg pants and jumpsuits. I always loved wide leg pants as a teen but one day I was introduced to straight leg pants and never looked back until a few years ago. lol

I went through a phase where I was very insecure with my weight. I shied away from a lot of particular styles of clothing because I thought they would not compliment my shape well. It wasn’t until I was comfortable in the skin I was in that I felt comfortable trying different types of clothing such as wide leg pants and jumpsuits. They have since become my most favorite style of clothing. For me, I feel that it is important to keep items in your closet that compliment you well. It is important that you feel comfortable in whatever you wear. Whenever I wear a jumpsuit or wide leg pants, I feel that I can conquer the world. lol I love them because they make my legs look long (even though I am already tall), they camouflage my gut (lol), and I just love the way they flow/sway when I walk. I found that they compliment well and now I buy them in every color and print. Mv absolute favorite wide leg pants are the ones that have big bows and belts. lol (Fun fact: The black and white chevron look is actually a peplum dress that I tucked into wide leg pants).

Some people feel that having the same style of clothing in multiple colors and prints is too much. However, it is nothing but a spectrum. While it does not seem like variety, it is because there are many colors and prints that allow the pants to be paired with many different options. When it comes to jumpsuits, I am the same way. While I don’t have as many jumpsuits as I do wide leg pants, I will buy every cute jumpsuit that I see. lol I often shied away from jumpsuits for the sole reason that I thought it would make me look bigger. After I tried one for the first time, I realized that it did the exact opposite. Now I swear by jumpsuits. At the end of the day, it is important to stay consistent with whatever makes you look good and feel comfortable. Keep building those wardrobes and stick with what works. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with trying different styles of clothing but you should also have continuity.

Stay consistent until next time,
